Ten years of twists and turns for a flagship project
The International City of Gastronomy and Wine of Dijon has a long history, full of twists and turns. It all started in 2012, when the French Mission for Heritage and Food Cultures (MFPCA) launched a call for projects for a city devoted to the culinary arts. Six cities answered the call: Lyon, Beaune, Dijon, Versailles, Rungis and Tours.
Finally, several cities of gastronomy must see the light of day. Beaune is ruled out, and Dijon becomes the center of reference for the culture of vines and wine. It was not until December 2014 that François Deseille, Deputy Mayor of the Cité de la Gastronomie, presented his new baby to the municipal council.
But from there, the project will experience many appeals and unforeseen events. We tell you in detail this story in our long format, to be found here.
