LIVE | Deceased care workers commemorated on the Dam | Inland

A small group of health workers met on Saturday afternoon at Dam Square in Amsterdam to commemorate their colleagues who died from the corona virus.

In front of the Paleis op de Dam, a number of healthcare workers with a megaphone shared their experiences of the corona crisis. At the time of contemplation, participants wore a white uniform with a black mouth mask, and some were decked out with a black cape or shawl. In the Netherlands, thirteen healthcare workers died from the corona virus. More than 17,000 positively tested healthcare workers also fell ill.

The intention of the organizers was to reflect on a modest and small demonstration of all health workers who worked during the corona crisis. And they succeeded, said the initiators during a livestream of NH Nieuws. “It was very powerful. We need this to process it together, ”said one of the initiators.

The event was also intended as a warning to all healthcare workers to stand up for their rights in the future. A distributed manifesto called for better working conditions and salaries and structural changes in health care.
