The Curaçao government announced on Monday that from Wednesday, September 16, a curfew will be introduced between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. The island wants to prevent further spread of the corona virus in this way. 102 corona cases have been registered on the island.
Curaçao also had a curfew in March, April and May. The government also introduced other measures on Monday. For example, people are not allowed to gather in groups of more than four people and shops and restaurants must close at 10 p.m. In schools, no more than 25 students may sit together in classes from group 8 onwards.
Epidemiologist Izzy Gerstenbluth explained at a press conference on Monday that measures must now be taken, because the number of corona infections has increased in recent weeks. “If we do nothing now, we run the risk that the number of infections will increase significantly in a few weeks.”
