The more the days pass, the more the health authorities call to take all the precautions with chloroquine. According to our information, the High Council of Public Health will give an unfavorable opinion on this controversial treatment. On the political front, the government must unveil on Tuesday the terms of reopening bars and restaurants, after two months of closure. In the afternoon, President Emmanuel Macron will present him with a plan to revive the automotive sector. For its part, the epidemic slowly continued its ebb, the number of patients in intensive care units falling again on Monday. Follow the situation live.

Information to remember:

  • The High Council for Public Health will give an unfavorable opinion on hydroxychloroquine, according to our information
  • Government to unveil reopening of bars and restaurants
  • Emmanuel Macron will present a recovery plan for the automotive sector
  • Resuscitations continue their decline in France

Negative opinion for hydroxychloroquine

Saturday, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran had asked the High Council of Public Health (HCSP) to give an opinion on the use of chloroquine. According to our information, this opinion is unfavorable. It is therefore necessary to stop the prescriptions of hydroxychloroquine for Covid-19, except in the case of clinical trials which can be continued but which will have to reassess the benefit / risk ratio of this drug.

To give their opinion, the experts analyzed several international studies, including that of the journal The Lancet, all come to the same conclusions: there is no certainty about the effectiveness of the treatment, however the cardiac toxicity is very real. On Monday, WHO for its part announced the temporary suspension of clinical trials with hydroxychloroquine, as a precaution.

Bars and restaurants will know

Millions of French people will finally know whether or not they can return to bars and restaurants. The government must unveil this Tuesday the terms of reopening, after more than two months of closure. According to our information and that of several media, only establishments located in green zones will be able to welcome customers again from June 2, only if sanitary conditions allow.

An important health protocol will have to apply, to avoid a resumption of the epidemic and the creation of new clusters. The rule of four square meters of space per person, which applies in businesses, could however be abandoned. The Directorate General of Health could therefore accept a distance of one meter between each table, or a window to separate them. We’ll explain everything we know (and don’t know) about reopening bars and restaurants in this article.

Emmanuel Macron at the bedside of the automobile

In addition to these announcements, Emmanuel Macron will present him with a plan to revive the automotive sector. As we know, Renault is going through a serious crisis, and should present a vast restructuring plan, with several factory closings in France. But a large part of the sector, such as equipment manufacturers or dealers, are also in great financial difficulty. Suffice to say that Emmanuel Macron’s plan is eagerly awaited by the actors.

“There are issues of survival. We lived for several months without selling at all, nor manufacturing, in a sector which is not very profitable. Most of the players, the manufacturers as the equipment manufacturers and the subcontractors, are in a very problematic financial situation. There are high expectations on this plan “, summarized the economist and automobile specialist Bernard Jullien, Monday evening on Europe 1.

Resuscitation down, death toll will be updated

If the economic situation worries, the health front continues to improve. The decline in the number of patients hospitalized in intensive care continued on Monday, with 1,609 patients, or 46 less in 24 hours. In the hospital, according to data from Public Health France, the number of deaths rose Monday evening to 18,112, an increase of 90 in the space of 24 hours. The total has risen to 28,457 dead since early March.

But these figures do not include the Ehpad, for which the authorities have not updated the balance sheet since … Thursday. The Directorate General of Health has assured that this should be the case on Tuesday.

Over 345,000 dead worldwide

The pandemic has killed at least 344,107 people worldwide since its onset in December in China, according to a report by AFP.

The United States is the most heavily affected country, with 97,948 deaths. This is followed by the United Kingdom (36,914), Italy (32,877), France (28,457) and Spain (26,834, balance sheet readjusted downwards).
