Researchers have found in blood tests that the coronavirus was circulating in the United States as early as December 2019. This would appear from antibodies that were found to have more than a hundred American blood donors from nine states. How they got this, for example by traveling far, is still completely unclear.
From samples were collected by the American Red Cross between December 13 and January 17. “The results of this study suggest that SARS-CoV-2 was present in the United States as early as December 2019, earlier than initially assumed,” reports Oxford Academic university publisher. Previous studies also seemed to indicate that Covid-19 went around much earlier, both in the US and elsewhere. Similarly, there would have been an early corona patient in France at the end of December.
According to China, the corona virus did not spread domestically until the end of December, around the metropolis of Wuhan. The virus was believed to set foot in the US in January.
