LIVE | Corona figures in Belgium fall, but mortality rate continues to rise | Inland

The number of new corona infections, hospital admissions and IC patients with corona in Belgium continues to decline. But the number of people dying from the virus continues to rise in the country.

An average of 199 patients died every day between 2 and 9 November, or 32 percent more than in the previous week, according to the latest figures from the Sciensano health institute. During the peak in mid-April, an average of 250 people died from Covid-19 every day. The total number of deaths from the virus in Belgium has now risen to 13,758.

The number of corona patients in Belgian hospitals has fallen below 7,000, according to the latest figures. On average, 520 people with corona were admitted every day for the past seven days, 24 percent less than the week before. There are now 6,876 patients with Covid-19 in hospital, 1,463 of whom are in intensive care units.

In the week of November 2-9, an average of 7,665 new infections were reported, almost half the number in the previous seven days. Since the start of the outbreak, 515,391 confirmed cases have been recorded.
