Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj addresses an audience in Vienna on Thursday evening and speaks live at the 4Gamechangers Festival with Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP). The organizers announce this talk “subject to current events”. After the failure of an appearance in parliament, it would be Selenskyj’s first public live entry in Austria since the beginning of the war.

So far, the Ukrainian President had only won over audiences in Austria at two solidarity concerts in late March and mid-June in pre-recorded video messages. If the live performance does not fail due to scheduling or military reasons, according to the organizers, Selenskyj should address an appeal to the Austrian population and explain the humanitarian situation and current situation in his home country.

In diplomatic circles there was also talk that the Ukrainian head of state could also address future visions with reference to the event. The digital and media festival 4Gamechangers, organized by ProSiebenSat.1Puls4 together with the ORF in 2022 in the Marx Halle in Vienna-Landstraße, deals in particular with questions of innovation.

Hollywood actor and human rights activist George Clooney will also be a guest at the festival on Thursday. In the late afternoon he will speak on the future of human rights.
