Initially, they were large-scale and public attention flashbacks, which were created with the aim of drawing the attention of both the government and the public to the rescue of the Wagner House, an architectural monument of national importance.
“This year, many plans were disrupted and we also had to adapt to the situation by changing the format of the anniversary celebrations with a live concert. We are pleased to have a successful collaboration with the world-famous violinist Gidon Kremer and his Kremerata Baltica and Latvian Kremerata orchestras. Kremerata Baltica Wagner House was a home before it was closed, and we will be honored to welcome them back to the renovated building, “said Maris Gailis, Chairman of the Board of the Riga Richard Wagner Association.
“I hope Wagner House will be home again someday Kremeratai Batica a Latvian Kremerata, that we will be able to return here often, give concerts, try and feel that our project belongs to Latvia and music through Wagner and history. We will try to leave our sounds in the wonderful Wagner Hall, “says Gidon Kremer.
German Ambassador to Latvia Kristians Helts: “The concert is dedicated not only to the memory of Richard Wagner, because this year we also celebrate two more significant anniversaries – the centenary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Germany and Latvia and 30 years since their restoration in 1991. a renewal of musical traditions that reflect the ancient history of our interrelationships and connections. “
2020 has made the world stand still. The world’s concert halls were silenced. The musicians were forced to get off the stage. But this was exactly the moment when a new idea was born and with the initiative of Gidon Kremer the chamber orchestra in Latvia merged into a new ensemble. Kremerata Baltica musicians. Since the summer of 2020 and the first unofficial concerts, the ensemble has called itself Latvian Kremerata and it has also officially introduced itself to the world of music.
The passion, energy and curiosity of the musicians about what is going on around them is the qualities that the Latvian ensemble has drawn from the outstanding musician and violinist Gidon Kremer for 24 years.
