“Tomorrow, on the occasion of the Fête de la Musique, celebrated every day of the year on FIP, we have decided to share our fm/radio stream, our good vibes, with all the passengers of the Paris metro”explains Ruddy Aboab, the director of the public radio.
“For one day, FIP will reinvent the soundtrack of the metro and encourage Parisians to take off their headphones, put down their phones and enjoy a collective moment together” for this “popular party” celebrated since 1982, rejoices the director of the radio.
“This is an unprecedented initiative”, observes Ruddy Aboab. All day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., metro passengers will be connected to FIP. There will also be a few surprise concerts organized in certain stations, with prestigious artists.
This particular day should be punctuated by exceptional concerts whose music will resonate in the corridors of certain stations. For these musical moments, a few names have leaked. Keziah Jones and Yael Naim are expected to be among the guest artists.
Recognized and publicized artists, Keziah Jones thus began his career in the metro. But they won’t chase away the usual metro musicians: they will even be invited to share the stage with the better known ones.
Other concerts with surprise guests are planned for the day. As a partner in the operation, the RATP gives users an appointment at two other stations: A Gare de Lyon and République.
If the radio is broadcast in the corridors and on the platforms of the metro stations, the concerts will be exclusively reserved for metro users and will not be broadcast on the air.
On the antenna, a particular musical program is planned, it will be punctuated with interviews. “In the form of small formats, we will give the floor to RATP staff who work in conjunction with metro musicians who each year pass a casting to be able to play within the RATP premises”explains an event manager. “They will come and talk about their jobs at the FIP microphone and will be interviewed by the FIP facilitators, the famous Fipettes”she explains.
Another nod to the RATP, the radio will dig into the musical corpus of public transport and will broadcast, for example, the famous song by Gainsbourg “Le poinçonneur des Lilas”. “But not only”, tempers the charge of the event, “FIP will remain faithful to its image, that is to say eclectic”, she specifies.
