Extraordinary investigating officers (boas) in Amsterdam will receive a corona bonus. The municipality will pay out the bonus of 300 euros to the approximately 450 enforcers. Amsterdam alderman Victor Everhardt (Finance) announced this in the city council on Wednesday.
Earlier Wednesday, Minister Ferd Grapperhaus (Justice) announced that police officers will receive a bonus as a token of appreciation for ‘solidarity and commitment’ they have shown in recent times. The Dutch BOA association and BOA ACP then pointed out to the minister that boas are also entitled to a bonus because of the workload, partly due to the measures against the corona virus.
“Boas, like police officers, are at the forefront of enforcing the measures against the corona virus. It is logical that the boas also receive an extra reward for their hard work ”, says Ruud Kuin, chairman of the Dutch BOA association. A spokesman for the minister stated that the signal had come in, but also pointed out that the boas are employed by the municipality and that they are about their salary
The bonus for boas costs the municipality of Amsterdam about 135,000 euros. It is still unclear where the money should come from.
