LIVE | Albert Schweitzer hospital no longer admits corona patients, all beds occupied | Inland

The Albert Schweitzer hospital in Dordrecht no longer admits new corona patients for 24 hours, except in acutely life-threatening situations. The hospital’s Board of Directors reported on Monday that all corona beds are occupied and that there is not enough staff to open a new corona department.

“The influx of patients with corona or a corona suspicion has been considerably greater than the outflow for many days. Every bed in the hospital is taken. Every day there are significant numbers of colleagues who have to report sick because they have the corona virus themselves, ”the Board of Directors said on the hospital’s website. Due to the staff shortage, the hospital has to make do with 35 inpatient corona beds and six corona beds in the intensive care unit.

“The situation is very worrying. Our vigorous efforts to transfer patients outside the region and to nursing homes continue unabated. The recruitment of additional temporary staff will also continue. But we will not make it with this ”, the Board of Directors reported. The hospital will reassess the situation around noon on Tuesday.
