Harry Potter is arguably the first name that comes to mind when you hear about magic. It probably won’t be the case with Little Witch in the Woods, developed and published by the Sunny Side Up studio. This Fantasy RPG invites you to put yourself in the shoes of Ellie, a young witch. To validate your school year, you are sent as a neophyte to a witch’s house, lost in a village where there is hardly a living soul.
You will have to get good grades by making friends with the villagers, offering them your help, developing your village, going on an adventure and finding something to cook up your potions, interact with the flora and fauna … All in a universe all in pixels and in 2D!
Does it remind you of anything? A taste of Proust madeleine is felt, isn’t it? Retro gaming enthusiasts may be under the spell of Little Witch in the Woods which is reminiscent of games such as The Legend of Zelda or the first color Pokémon. (to name only the most famous).
Most players of the 80s and 90s remember, not without a certain nostalgia, the pixel and 2D games that marked their childhood and adolescence. This is a whole part of the history of video games that we cannot miss; a revolutionary era in terms of gaming so to speak! Thus, an entertainment like Little Witch in the Woods will undoubtedly allow us to return to our first love.
Unfortunately, we do not yet have a specific date for the game’s release but we do know that it will be fully available during the first half of 2022 on PC, and potentially on Switch, PS4 and Xbox Series. Why entirely? Because the developers will allow us to play our magic wand with a ” early access”On Steam.

Sunny Side Up informs us that this early access will allow players to delve into the beginning of the story and get a feel for the general gameplay. But beware, this preview will only be playable in Korean or English. Without a specific date also for this “early access”, you will have to follow the case if you want to play Ellie the little witch.
