– Little incredible rebooking – VG

MAX UFLAKS: Jan-Kåre and Romeo are both disappointed that there was no trip to London.

Jan-Kåre Roso (57) and bonus son Romeo Roso Serrano (14) had their flight to London canceled the night before. The plane they were rebooked to is physically impossible to get on.

Jan-Kåre had been looking forward to visiting his heavily pregnant daughter in London. Romeo had long looked forward to a “boy’s trip”.

But air strikes, flight chaos and holidays are a solitaire that still does not always go up.

The Norwegian plane was initially scheduled to take off on Saturday at 08.55, returning on 4 July. On Saturday night, Jan-Kåre and his son are informed that their flight has been canceled due to technical problems:

– Now it’s just to turn off the alarm clock, I thought. It was extremely frustrating.

CANCELED: At 03.14, Jan-Kåre is informed that the flight to London will not take off as planned.

New departure will be 4 July 18.45 from Oslo Airport, with arrival 20.05 at Gatwick, London.

There is only one thing that is jarring:

The return ticket from London shows departure at 19.45 – the same day as they arrive.

The flight back to Norway thus takes off 20 minutes before the plane they were to arrive in London with lander.

– How is that possible ?, I think. It’s not possible. If there is a person who has done this, they should change jobs, laughs Jan-Kåre.

REBOOKED: 35 minutes later, Jan-Kåre is informed that he has been given new flight times – and flight dates.

Jan-Kåre now does not have time to see her daughter before she gives birth. He thinks he’s sorry:

– I fully understand that there may be cancellations. But this is a little incredible rebooking, he says.

Are you unsure if your plane will take off on time? Follow air traffic in Norway and the world live her!

Jan-Kåre tried to call Norwegian customer service on Saturday morning. Then he was told that he was number three in the queue, but that the waiting time was 1 hour and 55 minutes.

He therefore instead went online and asked for a refund of the tickets:

– It’s damn sour. The first part of our holiday is ruined.

FLIGHT FRUSTRATION: Jan-Kåre thinks the situation is both laughable and despairing.

The last month has been marked by great frustration and a lot of uncertainty among Norwegians ready to travel. Cancellations, rebookings and long queues have become the new norm. You can read why her.

Jan-Kåre thinks this somewhat ridiculous rebooking is a good example of what chaos can lead to:

– It is completely hopeless. The only information you get is a text message or an email. I had at least hoped that we could get a new plane the same day.

Miss the system

Norwegian communications adviser Silje Glorvigen confirms to VG that they had to cancel this flight due to a technical fault on the aircraft.

– Here, unfortunately, there has been a miss in our system, and we apologize for this. We understand that this is a frustrating situation, but we do everything we can to find the best possible alternative for affected passengers in such cases, she says.

She further says that in the event of cancellations, Norwegian will notify the change as soon as they become aware of it. Passengers can either choose to be rebooked or get a refund if the departure time does not suit.

– If passengers choose to be rebooked for a new departure, our system tries to choose a departure as close to the original as possible where there are available seats. But summer is high season for us, so many of our departures can be full, Glorvigen explains.

IN THE AIR: This could have been Jan-Kåre and Romeo’s plane on its way to London. That was not the case.

Skeptical of Norwegian

Jan-Kåre and Romeo never got to London, when they were to move on to Spain on July 5.

– I think it’s sad that these large companies do exactly what they want with their customers.

He says he trusts the airline less after this incident:

– You get skeptical of Norwegian when they do that.

To ensure that they got off to Barcelona, Jan-Kåre booked two sets of refundable tickets – both from SAS and from Norwegian.

– We’ll just see what happens. Do we get back and forth without problems? It will be exciting, he concludes.

There is great uncertainty about SAS departures going forward. Above 900 of the company’s pilots went on strike on Monday – and it has major consequences. According to a review VG has done, 585 of 963 SAS departures to and from Norway will probably be canceled by Friday.

SAS announced on Tuesday that they seeks bankruptcy protection in an attempt to save the company.
