little hope for disarmament – SWR Aktuell

There are almost 13,000 nuclear weapons worldwide. After Russia’s attack on Ukraine, there is little prospect of reducing it in the foreseeable future, although the 1970 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty is actually still in effect. Its goal is to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons and promote nuclear disarmament. Every five years, compliance with these goals is reviewed. One such United Nations Review Conference is currently taking place in New York. Nadine-Isabelle Kas also takes part in this for the “Peace Workshop” from Mutlangen in the Ostalb district. The organization works regionally, nationally and internationally for peace and disarmament. In an interview with SWR Aktuell moderator Stefan Eich, Nadine-Isabelle Kas describes how she is currently experiencing the handling of nuclear weapons at the conference.
