Little Brave will be able to enter the Materno Infantil and hopes to do so soon in Lanzarote | BE Lanzarote | Today for Today Lanzarote

The president of the Association of Children with Cancer Little Brave, José Jerez, has confirmed in SER Lanzarote that they already have the authorization that they had been claiming for months to be able to carry out the activities they currently carry out in hospitals and pediatric units in the Canary Islands.

Specifically, the group received the go-ahead in the Maternal Infant by letter from the management, “telling us that we could re-enter speech therapists, social workers, and psychologists with the first dose of AstraZeneca. The luck is that we have the psychologists vaccinated, and we are waiting for them to vaccinate the social workers and the speech therapists, ”explains Jeréz.

“We are very happy,” says Jeréz, who appreciates the support received from the municipalities of Yaiza, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Gáldar, as well as the Government group of Santa Lucía and the socialist opposition group in Santa Lucía.

In Lanzarote at the moment the permission to resume activities has not been confirmed, to which the President of Pequeno Valiente has said that “we suppose that it will be a test in the Maternal and Child to make it extensible to the different hospitals in the Canary Islands and to be able to return to to work. Not only Little Brave but also the different NGOs who work with adults, with children and start a new normal ”.

Adolescent unit

José Jeréz has emphasized, coinciding with the commemoration on May 13 of the Day of the Hospitalized Child, the need that exists in the Archipelago to have units for adolescents in the different hospital centers.

In fact, he assures that in the new tower of the Maternal and Child there will be an Adolescent Unit “because it is not good for a 7-year-old to be with a 17-year-old, but it is not good for a 17-year-old to be with an 80-year-old either. their ages and works differently. In Madrid, it is already being done, to have specific units for adolescents, it does not matter if they are in adult or children’s hospitals. The quality is good but the way of working is different. We have a specific psychologist for adolescents and another for children. It is being done in many Hospitals in Europe ”.
