“Lithuanian President: Until Conflict Ends, Kyiv Cannot Join NATO”

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, said that until the end of the conflict, Kyiv will not be able to join NATO, informs today, May 1, the communication group of the office of the head of state.

“It would be too difficult. We know about it, and the Ukrainians themselves know about it,” Nauseda said. “Some countries are still not ready to send strong signals to Kyiv on this topic, but Lithuania will insist on an ambitious agenda” included in the program of the NATO summit in Vilnius on July 11-12 this year.”

The presidency believes that at the meeting of the members of the bloc with partners from the Indo-Pacific region, a “road map” for Ukraine will be drawn for the current moment and for the period “after the end of the conflict.”

What it will turn out to be, the President of Lithuania refused to model, although back in mid-April he insisted on continuing the territorial dispute and peace negotiations only on Kyiv’s terms.

As previously reported EADaily in the Kyiv administration they talk about the NATO summit in Vilnius like this: if an invitation to join the bloc is not issued, they simply will not understand this in Ukraine.
