Lithuanian opera and ballet will not perform works by Russian composers until the war in Ukraine is over / Article

“The National Opera and Ballet Theater has decided to follow the recommendations of the Ministry of Culture and for the time being, until the end of hostilities in Ukraine, will refrain from public presentation of the works of Russian authors, because culture in Russia is too closely connected with the aggressive politics of this country,” the statement of the theater stated.

Therefore, this season, it will no longer be possible to watch two performances by Russian composers that were in the theater’s repertoire – Sergei Prokofiev’s ballet “Romeo and Juliet” and Igor Stravinsky’s ballet “Saint Spring”.
