“It is with pain and sadness that I announce that on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at 7 p.m., my beloved father Vytauts Romualds Tomkus ended his life on this earth in Vilnius,” she wrote.
Tomkus was born on July 29, 1940 in Radviliški. In 1961, he graduated from the Lithuanian Conservatory, 1961-1962. played in Šiauliai Drama Theater in 2010, and then eight seasons in Kaunas Drama Theater.
1971-1992 and 1999-2014. Tomkus worked at the Lithuanian National Drama Theater in 1992, while in 1992 he founded the theater “Vaidilos ainiai”.
Since 1962, Tomkus has starred in dozens of motion pictures. He gained the widest recognition with the main role in the Lithuanian television film “Tads Blinda” released in 1973.

He also starred in several Riga Film Studio films – the 1974 film “Sea Gate” by director Sergej Tarasov, the film “A Man in His Best Years” (1977) by Oļgerts Dunker, the film “Three Days for Reflection” by Roland Kalniņš (1980), the film “Double” by Rihards Pīkas “(1986), as well as in Aloise Branch’s films “Let us be” (1976), “Rally” (1978) and “Zītaru gītima” (1989).
An inmate who had been sentenced to 18 years at the penitentiary gave Tomkus his metal cross after watching the film because he had portrayed his role so well.

In 2004, Tomkus received the Officer’s Cross of the Great Order of Vytautas.
