Mexico City. The 42nd edition of the International Children’s and Young People’s Book Fair (Filij) continues today in the country’s capital with its sights set on promoting interest and enjoyment of literature. The meeting, held in the first section of the Chapultepec Forest until the 18th, includes the presence of 74 publishers, as well as the celebration of 650 workshops, conferences and 130 artistic activities.
According to the organizers, the objective is to serve around 19,500 children, young people and adults, in manifestations such as dance, theater, music, literature and plastic arts, and in subjects such as writing, verbal and mathematical skills, culture and heritage, science and technology.
The Ministry of Culture of Mexico City states that the event will be the scene of more than 90 presentations of books produced under labels such as Trillas, Planeta, SM, Porrúa, Nostra Ediciones, Pura Pinche Fortaleza Cómics, Akal, Nitro Press, Larousse and 21st century.
Several institutions participate in the organization of the event, among them, the Economic Culture Fund, the government of Mexico City, the federal secretariats of Culture, Public Education and the National Polytechnic Institute.
