Literature – Hamburg:Winner of “Vertell but mal!” competition presented

Hamburg (dpa / lno) – “Write something about ‘Op dat Leven!’ (To life)”! – That was the call for the 34th Low German “Vertell but mal!” competition from NDR, Radio Bremen and the Ohnsorg-Theater. Around 1300 Low German stories were submitted. The five best stories were announced in Hamburg’s Ohnsorg Theater on Sunday, NDR announced. Also present were two members of the band Santiano, which was this year’s ambassador for the competition: Hans-Timm “Timsen” Hinrichsen performed his song “Mien Land” and Axel Stosberg performed one of the winning stories. The 26 best stories appear in this year’s “Vertell but mal!” book.

First prize goes to Wolfgang Krischke from Hamburg for “Doden Winkel” (topic: Death comes to visit). Second prize went to Heiko Thomsen from Hamburg for “Wi mööt hier rut!” (Topic: Quarantine from the point of view of a corona virus). Third prize goes to Holger Wittschen from Weyhe in Lower Saxony for “Levenswunner” (Topic: The boy Theo has to have dialysis every two days. A donor kidney was found for him on his birthday). Fourth prize for Martha-Luise Lessing from Trappenkamp (Schleswig-Holstein) for “1962” (topic: the storm surge in Hamburg). Fifth prize for Regine Wroblewski from Oldenburg in Holstein for “De annere Siet” (topic: birth from the perspective of the born).
