British The Telegraph reports that several of Roald Dahl’s most famous works are to be rewritten so that they can “be continued and enjoyed by everyone to this day”.
Thus, classics such as “Matilda”, “Jack and the Beanstalk” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” will be rewritten. It is the publishing house Puffin, which publishes Roald Dahl books.

Sophie Elise-snop ended up on the shop shelves anyway
The Telegraph writes that Puffin brought in outsiders to read through the books and find things that could be offensive, so-called “sensitivity readers”. In the first instance, descriptions of the characters’ appearance have been changed or removed. The word “fat” should be among the words removed. In addition, the books must be gender neutral.
The well-known Umpa-Loompas, for example, should no longer be described as “little men”, but rather called “little people”, while Augustus Gloop is no longer referred to as “fat”, but rather “enormous”.
The changes have been made in new editions of English editions, and only in those of the author’s books aimed at children. According to The Guardian, hundreds of changes have been made to the original text, including the addition of sections that were not written by Dahl himself.
