According to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Listeria monocytogenes causes listeriosis, a particularly harmful disease for high-risk groups such as pregnant women, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.
The incubation period for listeriosis is usually one to two weeks, and can even extend up to three months in these vulnerable groups, who develop symptoms such as fever, muscle pain, sepsis and meningitis.
Likewise, PAHO indicated that people who do not belong to high-risk groups, and who contract listeriosis, may present diarrhea, fever, headache and muscle aches.
Cofepris recommended that, if you present any symptoms after consuming any of these foods, go to a health professional, who through assessment, studies and analysis will provide a specialized diagnosis and the treatment to follow.
In addition, the Regulatory Commission calls on the population to carry out a review to corroborate that the products have a label, in case it corresponds to any of the above, the product is not purchased and they file the corresponding health complaint.
