As already announced, the Sun will not be able to participate in this year’s “Supernova”. Such a decision was made because the musical work “Finally Happy” submitted by the musician, in violation of the application regulations, has been played publicly before September 1, 2022.

Representatives of Latvian Television (LTV) state that when submitting a song to the competition, the musician Saule (real name Krišjānis Suntažs), like the other applicants, confirmed that he was informed and agreed to the conditions contained in the application regulations, but the LTV project team, which evaluated the suitability of the musical works , learned only after the semi-finalists were announced that the song “Finally Happy” was already played publicly on December 19, 2021.

In the “Supernova” song contest on February 4, 14 participants will compete live to enter the final. The winner of the contest, who will be determined by the jury and the audience in the final vote on February 11, will get the opportunity to represent Latvia at the international Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, Great Britain, in May.

Both in the semi-finals and the final, the role of the audience and the jury will be equally important – the best will be determined by the overall evaluation of the audience’s calls and SMS votes and the jury’s vote.

Entry of songs and performers into the semi-finals of the “Supernova” competition was determined by a jury selected by LTV, which includes representatives of the Latvian music industry, events and television, as well as foreign professionals. Due to security reasons, again this year LTV will reveal the names of the jury representatives only after the international Eurovision Song Contest in May.
