LISTEN – “Miss you”: the Belgian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest

The bilingual Jérémie Makiese has Congolese roots, was born in Antwerp, but moved to Brussels when he was 6 years old. He has been singing with his brothers since childhood in church and at family gatherings. But he only really discovered his singing passion and talent during a singing competition organized by the Glycines municipal school in Berchem-Sainte-Agathe.

Besides music, football is a great passion of Makiese. Last autumn, he signed a contract as goalkeeper with the promises of Excelsior Virton in department 1B (the former second division). Choosing between one of his two passions is not easy for the young singer. “I can’t play football if I don’t sing and I can’t sing if I don’t play football,” he said. “I want to be champion in both.”
