As the representatives of the musician inform “Delfi”, the concert will take place in the Great Hall of VEF Culture Palace on February 4 at 7 p.m.
“I must admit that earlier the idea of celebrating a round anniversary on stage didn’t seem very attractive to me, but when quoting the classics, everything flows, everything changes. While waiting for the fortieth anniversary, an inner musical desire for a reference point appeared. This year it materialized in the form of a solo concert, and for that it is a big joy,” says one of the best acoustic guitar masters, Mārcis Auziņš, with satisfaction.
In the first part of the anniversary concert, as usual, Mārcis Auziņš will take the stage alone and, alongside his own compositions from three solo albums, will play arrangements for solo guitar by composers known in Latvia and around the world.
The second part of the concert will be joined by very different musicians and friends, with whom Mārcis has collaborated for many years in addition to his solo career: Raimonds Macats, Raimonds Ozols, Don and Aija Vītoliņa, making the program stylistically colorful and multifaceted.
“In honor of this concert, I have recorded several new compositions. This time we are publishing a guitar cover version of the song “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by the band “Queen”, says Mārcis Auziņš.
He emphasizes that the biggest challenge in the genre of solo guitar (fingerstyle guitar) is to achieve a musically dense sound using only one instrument, while not losing the musical and ideological essence of the piece. “It requires many, many hours of work, spent in technical and creative rehearsals. This is the way for me!” admits the musician.
With the same anniversary program, the guitarist will visit Madonna’s House of Culture on January 11. Tickets for the concerts are available for purchase at the ticket offices of “Bilešu Paradise”..
