According to the musician, “Dreams is probably the saddest extravaganza I’ve ever created.”
“It’s a song about darkness, the intimacy of forbidden feelings, about dependence on things or substances that threatened me with a loss of common sense, about even different illusions of fear and self-doubt that make us each act differently. I know there’s a lot of darkness in the world right now – even more than in my songs. It should not be overlooked and pretend that everything is fine, because “everything” is too strong a word. It is impossible to understand what light is if Darkness is not experienced. And this also applies to my music. Fighting with myself has never been easy; probably the most devastating in my life. This darkness is able to open the door for me to more light,” says JL Kalmann.
JL Kalmann, real name Jacob Ludwig Kalmanis, once known by the stage name the Ludvig, gained great prominence in 2017. in the year he became the youngest participant of the contest” Supernova “and reached the final of the Latvian selection, winning the second place with the composition”I’m in Love with you”.
The video was filmed in Liepaja, Karosta museum; it was directed by Liepaja Roadchanger or Emils Ashmanis, who was also the operator and director of the previous JL Kalmann single “Don’t Stop”.

A new song is offered by the Ludvig, known as “supernova”, now named JL Kalmann
He says: “the song “Dreams” is about darkness and the prison of many addictions. At the very beginning it was clear that this story would have to be realized visually, because the topics are so harsh that it is not accepted to talk about them openly in society. To realize the dark feelings of the story, the clip was filmed in one of the most beautiful cities in Latvia – Liepaja.»
