List of the hottest hot springs in the world | Mix

Ammon – The experience of visiting hot springs is like a visit to a health resort, because they contain melted minerals that can contribute to the healing of some diseases and wound healing. However, some of these springs are dangerous to humans, because the water temperature in them is close to boiling, which may cause serious harm.

For its part, Treehugger has compiled a list of some of the hottest hot springs in the world, in which a person can be exposed to third-degree burns in just five seconds, namely:

– Champagne pool “New Zealand”
Its name comes from the continuous flow of carbon dioxide gas, which creates bubbles similar to those seen in a glass of champagne.

The average surface temperature of the champagne pool is about 165 degrees, but the geothermal waters below the pool are much hotter (about 500 degrees).

Fry Pan Lake, New Zealand
This lake was formed as a result of the volcanic eruption of Mount Tarawera in 1886.
It is located at an altitude of 200 meters and is considered one of the largest hot springs in the world.
The surface temperature of the lake ranges between 120 and 143 degrees.

Lake Oyonuma, Japan.
Lake Oyonuma is located in the Niseko Highlands outside Rankoshi, Japan.
These hot springs are a lake formed in a volcanic crater. Its sulfurous waters are surrounded by a ring of thick mud, but this does not deter the insects that buzz around the surface.
The surface temperature of the lake reaches 140 degrees, and its depth reaches 266 degrees.

– Grand Pristine Spring, Wyoming
It is the largest geyser in the United States and the third largest in the world. It is located in Yellowstone National Park.
Its orange, yellow and green hues are the result of pigmented bacteria breeding around the edges of the mineral-rich water, but by contrast, the blue in the center is pure water sterilized by the 189-degree spring heat.

– Hverirundur Hverir (Iceland)
This lake is located in northeastern Iceland, and the “Hverirundur Hvirir” is distinguished by its unique appearance, which emits smoke, and its color tends to be deep blue.

This is likely why it was used as a “Game of Thrones” filming location, where steam rising from a fumarole created the visual effect of a blizzard.

– Chinoiki Jigoku “Japan”
Chinoiki Jigoku is one of a number of hot springs in Japan.
This spring is distinguished by its frightening red color, which is due to its richness in iron oxide with the presence of mud at its bottom, and some accounts claim that “Chinuiki Jigoku” was used to torture and kill.

– Blue Star “Wyoming”
This lake is located in Yellowstone National Park, and is distinguished by its unique shape.
The average water temperature in this pond is 190.7 degrees, heated by the same volcano that heats the “Grand Piersmatic” spring.

Laguna Ilamatepec (El Salvador)
Within the Santa Ana volcano in El Salvador is a crater lake called Laguna Ilamatepec, which is turquoise in color and has a surface temperature of 136 degrees.

Jigokudani Monkey Park, Japan
While most hot springs are considered fatal due to their temperature, the springs in the famous Jigokudani Monkey Park in Japan are considered dangerous for various reasons. The snow monkeys that occupy these springs are wild and unpredictable animals, as they can turn aggressive when feeling by threat.

In addition, the water in them is contaminated with feces, which makes them unsanitary. So although research has shown that bathing in the hot springs of Jigokudani reduces stress for snow monkeys, it is best for humans to keep their distance.
