List of Smartphones that Cannot Use WhatsApp After March 1, 2024

KOMPAS.com – A number of cellphones, both Android and iPhone, will no longer be able to use WhatsApp on March 1, 2024.

This is because the instant messaging application WhatsApp announced that it will stop supporting a number of smartphones based on older versions of the Android operating system (OS) starting March 2024, especially for Android devices version 5.0 and below.

Therefore WhatsApp will only be compatible for devices using the Android 5.0 Lollipop system or newer versions.

“Currently, we support and recommend the use of the following devices:

1. Android phone running OS 5.0 and above
2. iPhone running iOS 12 and later
3. KaiOS 2.5.0 and later, including JioPhone and JioPhone 2,” wrote WhatsApp, as reported by the Help Center WhatsApp.

The reason WhatsApp cannot be used on smartphones

The discontinuance of WhatsApp support for a number of smartphones is intended to maintain the security system and functionality required to run WhatsApp.

Because the software is updated every year. Therefore, WhatsApp carries out monitoring to observe which telephone devices are the oldest and have the fewest users.

On these devices, the Meta company’s application will send a notification on WhatsApp before stopping support for the operating system.
