1. Thomas Alva Edison
Thomas Alva Edison is known for his phenomenal invention, namely the incandescent lamp, whose development was pioneered since 1878. In addition, Edison is also noted to have owned 1,000 patents. These findings have become his contribution that has changed the world and have been enjoyed by people all over the world.
However, behind his success, Edison has a bitter story. In 1861 he lost his hearing in an accident. The shortcomings he had at that time did not discourage Edison, so he was still able to give his best work.
2. Stephen Hawking
The world’s leading astrophysicist and theoretical physicist, Stephen Hawking, has been physically disabled since the age of 21. He suffers from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or motor neuron disease that limits his range of motion.
Despite decades of life being lived with limitations, Hawking is not discouraged to become a researcher and professor who has contributed greatly to the world. In fact, his story was once brought to the cinema screen in the film “The Theory of Everything”.
