The limited purchase of Pertalite will begin in September 2022. Cars above 1,500 cc will be prohibited from filling the RON 90 gasoline.
The restriction on Pertalite is in line with the completion of the revision of Presidential Regulation (Pepres) No. 191 of 2014 and the socialization process. This was stated by Committee Member of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) Saleh Abdurrahman.
“We hope that September is already underway,” Saleh told detikcom, Tuesday (2/8/2022).

Furthermore, Saleh said that the vehicles that are prohibited from buying RON 90 fuel are cars above 1,500 cc and motorcycles above 250 cc.
“There has not been (there has been a change), it’s still the same as before, above 1,500 is not allowed and motorcycles above 250 cc,” he said.
Cars with a capacity of over 1,500 cc are various models. For example, Toyota uses gasoline-fueled engines from pickup models such as the Toyota Hilux 2.0, Alphard, Kijang Innova Vellfire, Fortuner. Camry, to Toyota Supra.
Meanwhile, Mitsubishi now uses passenger cars above 1,500 cc, which are dominated by diesel engines. The sale of the old Pajero Sport V6 3,000 cc model has been discontinued since 2016.
Luxury brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Audi, Mini Cooper, and BMW are mostly already using gasoline engines above 1,500 cc. For the BMW X1 and X2 only the engine capacity is under 1,500 cc.
In addition to the latest cars, older models such as the Toyota Kijang capsule ranging from LGX to LSX with the code 7K use engines above 1,500 cc. This type of old car is also in danger of not being allowed to buy Pertalite.
Although the rules are not final, as is well known, the government is still limiting the purchase of pertalite by banning cars above 1,500 cc. The following is a list of new cars that are at risk of being banned from using Pertalite:
