Previous via website WhatsApp, the company announced it would be discontinuing support for a number of smartphone with older operating systems, namely Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and iOS 9.
“WhatsApp will no longer support smartphone Android running OS 4.0.4 or older starting November 1, 2021,” WhatsApp said websitehim, Wednesday (25/8/2021).
The users smartphone with OS 4.0.4 also invited to switch to a newer device and save message history before changing devices.
It is said, WhatsApp can be used on smartphone Android with OS 4.1 (Jelly Bean) or above that can receive SMS or calls during the verification process.
“We offer limited support for Android tablets with an active SIM card. We also don’t support tablets that rely solely on a WiFi connection,” WhatsApp said.
Not only old Android, WhatsApp will also not work on iPhones with iOS 9 and below. To use WhatsApp, iPhone users must at least update their iPhone to iOS 10 or above.
