domestic Minister Tito Karnavian will appoint five acting or Acting governor five provinces at the Ministry of Home Affairs Office, Jakarta today, Thursday (12/5).
Acting governors are appointed to temporarily replace governors and deputy governors whose terms of office expire. The acting governor will serve until there is a new regional head as a result of the 2024 regional election.
The following is a list of acting governors appointed by Tito Karnavian:
- Deputy for Border Area Potential Management at the National Border Management Agency (BNPP) Paulus Waterpauw as the acting governor of West Papua.
- Banten Provincial Government Secretary Al Muktabar as Acting Governor of Banten.
- Director General of Regional Autonomy, Ministry of Home Affairs, Akmal Malik, as Acting Governor of West Sulawesi.
- Director General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ridwan Jamaludin as Acting Governor of Bangka Belitung.
- Expert Staff for Sportivity Culture to the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Hamka Hendra Noer as Acting Governor of Gorontalo.
The Special Staff of the Minister of Home Affairs Kastorius Sinaga has confirmed the names of the five acting governors who will be sworn in today. Kastorius said the inauguration would be held at around 08.00 WIB at the Jakarta Ministry of Home Affairs Office.
“In the Sasana Bhakti Praja Room at the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, will inaugurate 5 PJ Governors,” Kasto said.
Previously, President Jokowi asked that a number of people be prepared to be appointed as acting governors, regents and mayors. Jokowi said this year there needed to be 101 replacements for regional heads that had to be prepared, with details of 7 governors, 76 regents, and 18 mayors.
The acting governor will lead an area until there is a new definitive regional head as a result of the election. It is known, the new Pilkada will be held again in 2024 simultaneously throughout Indonesia.
