A total of eight teams have confirmed their passage to the quarter-finals 2023 U-20 Asian Cup after the final match of group D, Thursday (9/3) evening WIB.
The last two group D matches of the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup have been completed. As a result, Japan and China officially became representatives from Group D to the last 8.
Japan confirmed qualify as group winners. Samurai Blue confirmed it after winning 2-1 over Saudi Arabia at the Lokomotiv Stadium, Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Japan scored two goals through Kuryu Matsuki. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia scored one goal, Yazid Joshan.
Success Japan stepped into the quarter-finals followed by China. China qualified after a 1-1 draw against Kyrgyzstan.
China qualified as runner up thanks to a collection of four points. China is one point ahead of Saudi Arabia who must be willing to be eliminated along with Kyrgyzstan in the group phase.
The success of Japan and China in qualifying made the contestants for the quarter-finals of the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup complete. Japan and China are following in the footsteps of Uzbekistan, Iraq, Iran, Australia, South Korea and Jordan.
The quarter-finals of the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup will be held on March 11 and 12.
