1. Microraptor
With feathers and four primitive wings (a pair each on the forearms and hind legs), the first Cretaceous Microraptor could easily be mistaken for a mutated pigeon.
However, it is a true raptor, of the same family as Velociraptor and Deinonychus, even if it measures only about 70 cm from head to tail and weighs only a few kg. Due to its small size, paleontologists believe that Microraptor lived by eating insects.

Europasaurus, however, was not much larger than modern cattle, only about 3 meters long and less than 907 kg. This late Jurassic dinosaur lived on a small island separate from mainland Europe, like its equally small titanosaur cousin, Magyarosaurus.
4. Aquelope
The 1 kg aquilops is a true outlier in the Ceratopsian family tree, while most of the horned and flounced dinosaurs are ancestral to Asia.
Aquelopes are found in North America, in sediments dating back to the Middle Cretaceous period (about 110 million years ago). The descendants of Aquilops, millions of years later, were eaters of plants such as Triceratops and Styracosaurus.
