Britain became the first European country to impose the harshest sanctions on Russia. In this case, previously Prime Minister (PM) Boris Johnson, had announced British sanctions against Russia, namely by freezing 5 Russian banks and three Russian billionaires named Gennady Timchenko, Boris Rotenberg, and Igor Rotenberg.
After that, additional sanctions emerged when Foreign Minister Liz Truss issued a series of aviation sanctions against Russia.
“We have strengthened the ban on overflights and landings of Russian aircraft in the UK. For Russian aircraft that continue to fly and land in England, they will be subject to criminal penalties in accordance with applicable regulations,” said the British Foreign Minister.
