Lisandro Martinez Wants to ‘Kill’ Opponents on the Field, but…

Manchester

Central defender Manchester United Lisandro Martinez claimed to want to “kill” his opponents on the field. Martinez does have an aggressive playing style.

The Argentine footballer immediately became one of MU’s key players after being recruited from Ajax Amsterdam last summer. Despite his petite stature, Martinez showed consistent performances with his tandem, Raphael Varane.

Lisandro Martinez has made 34 appearances for the Red Devils so far this season. Martinez’s contribution helped MU reach the Carabao Cup final, reach the fifth round of the FA Cup, penetrate the Europa League knockout phase, and are still in contention for the Premier League title.

In addition, Martinez was also included in the Argentina squad when they won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The 25-year-old footballer played five times and started twice.

Lisandro Martinez yet to even get a red card throughout his career at the highest level. The only red card he has ever received was when he received two yellow cards when he was still starting his career with the Argentine club, Defensa y Justicia in 2018.

Martinez admitted that it was impossible to change his game to be more calm. However, the owner of the nickname ‘The Butcher’ admits that he always plays smartly to avoid suspension.

“I can’t do it, otherwise I will be suspended in every game!” squeaked Martinez. “You have to be smart. It’s difficult, very difficult.”

“Sometimes I want to kill, but you also have to have control. I think this is part of our culture from Argentina. We are always like this, we are very passionate. Football, for us, is everything so that’s why we always give everything,” continued he was quoted Metro.

“As a kid, I remember when I was very little, maybe when I was four or five years old, I started fighting and I cried when I lost. So it’s something we have in our blood, in our heart, it’s our culture ,” straightforward Lisandro Martinez.
