Lisa Rüppel is the new Erlenbach wine princess

The Erlenbach-Tiefenthal winegrowing association impressively demonstrated that you can celebrate a great party even in difficult times at the farewell to its wine princess Tina Dworschak and the coronation ceremony for the new wine princess Lisa Rüppel in the Erlenbach festival hall. Chairman Paul Diener welcomed the association members, numerous guests of honor and many wine lovers. The anniversary of the Erlenbach-Tiefenthal winegrowing association, which was founded in January 1990 and currently has 68 members, was also celebrated.

In his address, Diener discussed the rapid technical development of viticulture within a generation. He regretted that many celebrations such as the wine festival, wine hiking day and the general assembly in the 2020 anniversary year had to be canceled due to the pandemic. Looking back over 30 years, he recalled some highlights such as the coronation and reception of three Franconian wine queens or the district wine tastings.

Diener was delighted that the vineyard is rethinking its approach to acting in a way that is compatible with nature and the environment. In the meantime, rows of vines are sown, flower meadows are created and vineyards are cultivated in a natural or ecological way, thereby actively protecting the bees. But you also have to be aware that nature and the environment have an unimpressed influence on working with the natural product wine.

Pandemic diminished joy

Diener thanked the outgoing wine princess Tina Dworschak, who had taken over her office full of joy and zest for action in 2019 and was then suddenly thwarted by the pandemic in 2020. As a parting present, he presented a painting of the wine town of Erlenbach and a bouquet of flowers.

Tina Dworschak said goodbye emotionally to her position. You look back on two very nice years with many wonderful memories. The highlights of her tenure were her participation in the Franconian wine festival in Munich, the wine gala and the preliminary decision for the foolish wine tasting in Würzburg as well as the princess cooking course in Homburg. She thanked everyone who supported her. The guests said goodbye to her with a standing ovation.

It got exciting when the new Erlenbacher Wine Princess was announced. In addition, ten young women came on stage, all of whom had applied for the office. Paul Diener announced Lisa Rüppel as the new Erlenbach wine princess in a relatively unspectacular manner. The crown of the wine princess was put on by Tina Dworschak as the last official act of her successor Lisa Rüppel to the applause of all those present.

Responsible for wine marketing

She is 23 years old and comes from Erlenbach. It was a reminder of many former wine princesses who, like the Viticulture Association, were also able to celebrate milestone anniversaries that evening. “My mother Andrea was crowned 34 years ago. So it’s time again,” said Rüppel. After primary school in Erlenbach, the Abitur at the grammar school in Marktheidenfeld and a voluntary social year, she decided to study ecotrophology at the university in Fulda with a focus on food management. After an internship at the House of Franconian Wine in Würzburg, she has since been responsible for regional wine advertising and marketing as well as for events organized by the Franconian Wine Association. Her great grandpa Hugo founded the Erlenbacher Winzergenossenschaft in 1936 and was chairman and cellar master until 1975. Her grandfather Erich is also a passionate winemaker. As a princess wine, she had selected a 2019 Kerner Kabinett from Weinhaus Lothar Wirsching.

Greetings were given by Deputy District Administrator Christoph Vogel and the President of the Franconian Viticulture Association Artur Steinmann in the presence of the Second Mayor Stefan Schwind, Pastor Matthias Wolpert and Former Mayor Hermann Riegel. The wine princesses from the region sang and danced “She is a princess” and presented the new Erlenbach wine princess with a starter package just in case. Cellist Marie Christine Weiss-Hitzler and songwriter Roy Hanson provided the musical accompaniment for the event.
