Lisa Loeb’s Transition from Comedian to Television Star

Lisa Loeb wants to focus more on making television in the near future. The 34-year-old comedian is already working on a satirical program, among other things.

“Last year after winning The smartest person did one more tour of my solo performance. After that I made the choice to stop doing that for now,” Loeb said at the musical’s press presentation Pretty Woman. “Because I got a lot of great opportunities on TV and I actually want to focus on making TV.”

Loeb has been on stage as a comedian for twelve years and thinks it’s time for a new challenge, she said. “I really want to make satire on TV, I’m busy with that. As a writer, creator, presenter, actress, all things really.”

That versatility also appeals to her in making TV. “It is fast, topical, improvising, so it also requires something else from my brain than playing one performance for a year.”

The comedian emphasized that the choice has nothing to do with her pregnancy. “Of course I will have a child, but my partner and I will take care of it fifty-fifty,” she said. “And I call myself ‘supreme feminist’, so I’m going to live and propagate that too. That’s what I believe in and stand for, so I don’t think my working life will be very different now.”
