She was 92 years old.

Lisa Larson recently exhibited at Galleri Helle Knudsen in Kungsholmen. In the exhibition Unique there were works from 1976 to the present day.

Wanted to save tigers

The exhibition ended on March 2. On Monday, her family announced that she had died after a period of illness, they say SVT Kulturnyheterna.

During the year of the tiger 2022, she collaborated with the World Wide Fund for Nature to save the world’s tigers. She hand-painted a tiger figurine in the Keramikstudion in Gustavsberg to draw attention to the endangered animals.

– I am happy to be able to participate and draw attention to the endangered tiger species with my new ceramic figure, which I call Greta. In my lifetime, this beautiful animal has declined dramatically in numbers and I want to join and contribute to WWF’s work for tigers, she said in a statement.

For nearly 30 years, Lisa Larson was employed as a designer and ceramist at Gustavsberg’s porcelain factory, and as recently as last fall, she designed the new decor Sixten for them.

– It cannot be emphasized enough how important Lisa Larson was to ceramics in Sweden and the world. She did things that everyone could relate to, and that engaged people at all levels in society, says Oskar Juhlin, CEO of Gustavsberg’s porcelain factory.

– She had a depth and a breadth and was incredibly present in the Swedish home and the Swedish consciousness, he adds.

The porcelain factory will commemorate her passing in some way, he explains.

– We are very grateful that we managed to do one last collaboration with her. At 92 years old, she creates a modern, playful and stylistic decor, it’s amazing.
