LIRR commuters face snags at Grand Central

Finally, Long Island Rail Road service is available at Grand Central Madison offering more frequent trains on that route. However, this also presents some headaches for the MTA regarding the changes implemented on that, and other routes.

On the second day of the new service, some problems have already been reported for travelers trying to get around.

Yesterday, service was reduced to and from Grand Central due to a signal problem and some Grand Central-bound trains were also diverted to Penn Station.

Some travelers say that the connections are not scheduled well and that there is not enough time to get to the platform they need to go to.

One of the places where these problems are felt is at the Jamaica station in Queens where long lines of travelers have been seen.

According to official data, 271 trains per day have been added, a 41 percent increase in service, the largest such increase in the history of the Long Island Rail Road.
