Research by Maastricht University (UM) has shown that a drinkable mix of fruit and vegetables increases resistance to diabetes and cardiovascular disease in healthy people.
The research was conducted under the title ‘MiBlend study’ by UM professor De Kok. The participants in this study were given a drinkable fruit and vegetable mix, called ‘Joycie’, every day for two weeks. Pictures of the retina were used to measure the results. These photos look at, among other things, the narrowing of arteries and the widening of veins and how this is related to heart disease and the risk of diabetes. This study is supported by the province of Limburg.
