Lionsgate fires employee who worked on controversial ‘Megalopolis’ trailer

Lionsgate has decided to end its relationship with marketing consultant Eddie Egan after the Megalopolis trailer, which contained negative comments from critics, was removed, reports Variety. Egan, according to the publication, was responsible for the creation of this video.

Sources say Lionsgate and Egan did not intend to knowingly bounce critics’ reviews. However, the film company did not thoroughly investigate the quotes given, which is believed to be the reason for the incident.

Variety also notes that such citations can be easily generated using ChatGPT, which is what Egan likely did, rather than manually searching for actual reviews.
