Lionsgate has announced that “John Wick 5” is on the way – and will be recorded at the same time as “John Wick 4” in the new year, when the main character Keanu Reeves has an opening in the calendar.
According to Deadline, the studio’s CEO Jon Feltheimer brought up the franchise during yesterday’s presentation of quarterly figures:
– We’re also busy preparing scripts for the next two installments of our John Wick action franchise, with John Wick 4 slated to hit theaters Memorial Day weekend 2022. We hope to shoot both John Wick´4 and 5 back to back when Keanu becomes available early next year.

Underwater Action?
The launch date for “John Wick 4” is currently set for May 27, 2022, which is one year later than planned. Between the fourth and fifth films, the studio is set to release “The Continental” – a John Wick-related series, which is currently under development.
Thanks to the corona exposures, more actors than Reeves will probably have to prepare to record films in parallel in the future. Fortunately, the latter knows well what it is all about; from March 2001 to August 2002, he recorded the two “Matrix” sequels simultaneously.
Reeves is currently on the “John Wick 4” set in Berlin, where filming is finally underway again after a six-month pandemic break (the cameras rolled for exactly four weeks before the lockdown).
The director behind the previous “John Wick” films, Chad Stahelski, is going to press again – and with him on the team is screenwriter Derek Kolstad. Shall we believe Collider, Stahelski and Reeves came up with the plot for “John Wick 4” during the promo round for “John Wick – Parabellum”. The director is also said to have hinted that parts of the action may take place under water … Oi, oi, oi.
