The three lion cubs Whisker, Waka and Winta have their birthday in the Antwerp Zoo. They are celebrating their first birthday and the caretakers don’t want to let that pass.

Over the past few weeks, they have been crafting three animals in papier-mâché with great pleasure and some serious cursing here and there. They filled the zebra, giraffe and antelope with fresh meat this morning and put them in the lions’ pen. Although the animals look a bit dubious at first, they quickly attack.
The keepers and the public enjoy the enthusiasm of the animals and the children on the school trip loudly sing Happy Birthday. A giraffe and a zebra on the menu, if that’s not a lion’s feast!
