Lions beat Torrelavega in Viseu
Sporting ended the Viseu-Feira de São Mateus International Tournament this Sunday in 2nd place, on equal points with the powerful Veszprém, with another victory against the Spaniards of Torrelavega (30-23), making rivals Benfica jealous and FC Porto, who ended up in 4th and 6th place, respectively.
It was a good test for the lions, who start the season in the Iberian Super Cup, against Barcelona, a competition that takes place on the 2nd and 3rd of September, in Viana do Castelo.
The match against the Liga Asobal team had a unique meaning, as the green and whites assumed the costs of the challenge from the first minutes, reaching the break in a clear advantage (18-13).
With consolidated control, the 2nd half was played with a stoppage and response, so the seven goals difference at the end was not for the lions to overcome the goal difference of the Hungarians from Veszprém, who beat Benfica and FC Porto.
The Lisbon club had Kiko Costa (4 goals) as assets in attack, well supported by Jan Gurri (3), Mamadou Gassama (3), João Gomes (3) and Martim Costa (3), demonstrating that the team loses little in performance even when changing the bench of substitutes.
