French superstar Karim Benzema won the 2022 Ballon d’Or award. Now Argentine legend Lionel Messi is talking about Benzema winning this award.
Messi’s thoughts on the matter were revealed in the documentary Ballon d’Or 2022: The Rise to Wednesday’s Eternity, which will be released by Le Ecup.
Messi shared that Benzema is a great player and Benzema deserves the 2022 Ballon d’Or award.
“Benzema deserved that award with his outstanding season in 2022. He is a great player. That Ballon d’Or award is important for him and for football,’ Messi said via Foot Mercato.
Benzema had a memorable season with Spanish giants Real Madrid in the 2021-22 season. The Frenchman accounted for 44 goals and 15 assists in 46 appearances for Real that season.
