When Lionel Messi joined Inter Miami last summer the South Florida team saw a huge increase in their profits and valuation. So much so that in just six months the franchise went from number 11 in valuation to the third best value in the entire MLS.
This growth is measured by the directors and owner of the club, who have seen how in less than a year the value and income of the franchise has almost doubled. Xavier Asensi, the general director of Inter Miami, recently explained in detail the “Messi phenomenon” in the team.
“When Messi came we went from having a budget of just over $60 million dollars to accounting for around $125 or $130 million. This year I hope we will have a turnover of $200 million or more. Anger to be at a temporary level,” Asensi told EFE.
When Messi arrived at Inter Miami, big companies came because they did not hesitate to invest in the team in which the world champion will spend his next two seasons, or more. The managers of the team are clear about the huge amount of financial support that the Argentine has.
“We are very happy to close high-level commercial deals. It is a matter not only of quantity but of quality. “We are looking for those ‘partners’ who will take us to another level and Messi in the team will take you to that level.Asensi explained.

“Leo takes you to another level. But then the demand levels you ask of the ‘partners’ are also different. We are very happy with how we are, very proud of the team and all the work being done. “We have to keep getting better,” continued the team manager.
Asensi also took the opportunity to praise Messi and did not hesitate to put him on the same level as great sports stars like Michael Jordan. Which marked before and after in their own subjects.
“It’s like being able to say you saw Tiger Woods play, or Michael Phelps swim, or Usain Bolt run, or watch Michael Jordan or Tom Brady. We are contemporaries of something that is happening here and now. Every weekend the United States plays it in its professional league. “We’re talking about the biggest ever to be active and playing,” he said.
Inter Miami’s new home for 2025
On the other hand, Asensi also took the opportunity to give details about what will be the new home of Inter Miami. The stadium that is being built in the city and according to the manager would be ready by the middle of 2025.
“In terms of time we will continue with 2025, but he is going to play next season, it is amazing. This is something much biggernext to the airport, so it’s the last and first thing people see when they leave or arrive in Miami,” he said.
It also ensures that it will be a high-end location that will be positioned as the largest center in Miami. “We are talking about the most exciting project in the sports industry. Of course I’m not fair but I try to look at it in a neutral way. “We are talking about the stadium, an entire area, the largest open park in the city of Miami,” he concluded.
