the essentials in brief

- On Tuesday, Messi should become Argentina’s sole record player.
This fan love gets under your skin: Igor Magalhaes, a Brazilian soccer fan, had a huge picture of Messi tattooed on his back. The football star liked it so much that he signed it.
The tattoo shows Lionel Messi celebrating his 500th career goal. He achieved this at the Santiago Bernabeu, the stadium of arch-rivals Real Madrid. He then presented his jersey to the fans to silence them.
The super fan came into the public eye when Magalhaes watched a training session for the Argentine national team in Brasilia. And the superstar himself responded to it.
Lionel Messi promised to sign the tattoo. And he actually did: at a meeting in front of the Argentinians’ team hotel, he signed the back of the fan. “Now I can die in peace,” wrote the Brazilian on Instagram.
But the signature in felt pen was not enough for him. A few hours later he had the lettering immortalized in ink.
