Lionel Messi Set to Leave Paris Saint-Germain for Saudi Arabia Deal

Paris (AFP)
Argentine star Lionel Messi is preparing to return to the ranks of Paris Saint-Germain, the leaders of the French Football League, after his team froze his punishment for traveling to Saudi Arabia without prior permission, to host Ajaccio on Saturday in the 35th stage competitions.
The Qatar World Cup champion and seven-time Golden Ball winner for the best player in the world missed the 3-1 victory over Troyes in the last stage, due to the penalty of being suspended from exercises and matches for a period of two weeks, after he missed one of the training sessions to carry out his duties as tourism ambassador to the Kingdom.
Later, the former Barcelona star apologized for what he had done to his team and colleagues, and returned to the capital club’s exercises on Monday, but it seems that his adventure in Paris has come to an end with the Parisian club.
After two disappointing years in France, it seems that Messi is looking forward to playing in Saudi Arabia next year in a possible deal that may re-ignite the fuse of the conflict between him and his eternal rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, who previously joined the ranks of Al-Nasr club.
A source familiar with the negotiations said earlier this week that Messi, who will be 36 years old next month, will sign an “extraordinary” contract with a club whose name has not been disclosed.
He added, without revealing his identity, “The Messi deal is over. He will play in Saudi Arabia next season.”
The source, who is not authorized to speak to the media, continued, “The contract is exceptional. it’s huge. We are just finalizing some small details.
On the other hand, Saint-Germain did not confirm the news of the departure of the little “flea”, while his father and agent Jorge insisted that the world champion had not yet decided his future destination.
It is certain that Messi’s mission in Saint-Germain will end next June with the expiry of his current contract, hoping that he will lead the team to its eleventh title in its history in the league to break its association with Saint-Etienne, where they share the record (10 each).
For his part, a source from within the club’s corridors said, “If the club had wanted to renew its contract, that would have been done earlier.”
Leaders Saint-Germain, with 78 points, face Ajaccio, who is close to returning to the second division, as it has won only one of its last 13 matches.
