Lionel Messi saving for PSG? Thierry Henry’s verdict is harsh

Even though Paris Saint-Germain beat Strasbourg 4-2 on Saturday, the Paris club’s performance left a lot to be desired. In the second half, PSG suddenly got scared and conceded two goals in a row.

Super players are not a guarantee

Fortunately, the 2020 Champions League finalist was able to turn the game for the better afterwards. But the victory does not convince all observers.

Former soccer player and coach Thierry Henry now works as a soccer commentator for Amazon Prime Video. In the latest edition, he expresses his doubts about the Paris Club:

The team is the most important thing. You always talk about the great players, the strikers. But it needs a balance. When we talk about the team I played with at Barca, people often forget that we only conceded a few goals. In general, teams that get low on goals are never far from the title, or even the Champions League.

A balance is needed

According to the former coach, what really matters is balance and he reminds us that it is not enough for a team to equip itself with top-class players like Messi, Mbappé and Neymar:

When you have superhuman players it gets easier, but when I see Paris develop they are currently conceding too many goals to move forward for my liking.
